Akademischer Werdegang

Rainer Quitzow studierte Metropolitan Studies an der New York University (B.A., 2001) sowie Development Studies (M.A., 2004) am International Institute for Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam in Den Haag. Er promovierte am Forschungszentrum für Umweltpolitik am Otto-Suhr-Institut für Politikwissenschaften (Dr. rer. pol., 2015). In seiner Promotion untersuchte er den Aufbau der Solarindustrie in Deutschland, China und Indien und das Zusammenspiel von Politik und Innovation in dem Zusammenhang. Nach seiner Promotion arbeitete er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Fachgebiet Innovationsökonomie der Technischen Universität Berlin. Seit Dezember 2015 arbeitet er am Forschungsinstitut für Nachhaltigkeit, Helmholtz-Zentrum Potsdam (ehemaliges Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, IASS). Dort leitet er die Forschungsgruppe Geopolitik der Energie- und Industrietransformation und ist Sprecher des Forschungsbereiches Energiewende und gesellschaftlicher Wandel. In 2023, wurde er zum Honorarprofessor für Nachhaltigkeit und Innovation an der Technischen Universität Berlin ernannt.
