Innovationsökonomie

Philipp Heß, MSc

I am a researcher and PhD candidate at the Chair of Innovation Economics at TU Berlin. From 2017 to 2022 I was scientific director of the German Standardization Panel (funded by DIN and DKE), where we collect data and conduct research on standardization activities of companies. I am still involved in the project in a consulting role. Since 2021, I am leading the TU-side of the BMBF-funded project Peer Innovation, in which we research sustainable household innovation in collaborative networks together with IÖW. Before joining academia, I worked as an IT- and management consultant and market researcher. I studied at TU Berlin and at Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg, Sweden, and have a bachelor’s and master's degree in Industrial Engineering.

My research interests include the relationship between standardization and innovation, political aspects of standardization, innovation in networks and innovation systems, indicators and sustainability. I am currently working on my dissertation on innovation and regulation in the context of standardization. Please contact me if you are interested in research collaboration, or if you need a supervisor for your thesis. When contacting me about a thesis, you should include a short research proposal and a few sentences about yourself. Please note that I will not supervise theses after SS 2022.
