Fields of Study: Management, economics, business administration, engineering background (e.g. ICT)
Topic: Enterprise social networking (ESN) focuses on the use of online social networks or social relations among people who share business interests and/or activities. ESN is often a facility of enterprise social software (regarded as a primary component of Enterprise 2.0), which is essentially social software used in "enterprise" (business/commercial) contexts. Different private sector companies have embraced social networking and they are creating their own internal social networking sites (IBM, Atos etc.). Within the last years, several researchers analyzed the use of Social Networks within private sector companies and observed its effect on innovation (e.g. through crowdsourcing). Since much of the topic and studies on ESN are focusing only on the private sector, it is the goal of your thesis to investigate the use of Social Networks in the public sector and its impact on public sector innovation.
