STAR-Pro-Bio

Sustainability Transition Assessment and Research of Bio-based Products

STAR-ProBio constitutes a multidisciplinary and multi-actor collaborative project that will meet environmental, social and economic challenges, paving the way for a much-needed transition towards a sustainable bio-based economy in Europe. The overall objective is to develop a fit-for-purpose sustainability scheme, including standards, labels and certifications for bio-based products. The Chair of Innovation Economics at TU Berlin will lead work package1 on the identification of important factors to be considered in the sustainability assessment tools to be developed under the project as well as work package 5 on market assessment, aimed at promoting activities that will facilitate further market uptake of sustainable bio-based products. It will focus on identifying the sustainability preferences and expectations of all relevant value chain players: producers, consumers and public procurers. Stakeholders representing the bio-based industry, businesses, governments, certification bodies and end-users will be involved through ongoing consultation, focus groups, workshops, webinars and experiments.
