Berlin Innovation Panel 2014

The results of the Berlin Innovation Panel (BIP) 2014 were presented to the public on 9th March, 2015 in a press release.  Berlin Senator for Economics, Technology and Research, Cornelia Yzer, stated that the data underscore Berlin´s pole position as an innovative business location.
While the share of companies that introduced product or process innovations within the preceding three year period slightly decreased in comparison to earlier waves of the survey in 2012 and 2013 throughout Germany the quota of innovators in Berlin (50 %) still exceeds the national average (45 %) and is on the same level as in other German metropolitan areas.

Considering the trend of the survey waves differentiated by company size one observes distinct developments. In contrast to small and medium-sized companies, concerning which the share of innovators - similar to the national trend - remains stable or decreases one can observe a pronounced rise by 13 % among companies with more than 1000 employees in comparison to the results of the first survey.
